Three totals, three different questions
- Purchase total
- The sum of the purchases included in a route.
- Starting balance
- The coins needed to execute a particular order of purchases and sales.
- Estimated net cost
- Purchases minus expected sale proceeds, after the fees used in the calculation.
Expected sale proceeds are not spendable coins until a sale completes. Keeping a card, changing the order or selling at a different price can change the balance required.
A price belongs to a version and a market
A PS quote does not establish a PC price. A card directory can identify a version without containing a market quote. And a card missing from a suggested lineup is not necessarily missing from the market.
Compare the exact version and market first. Treat a missing price as missing evidence, never as a free card.
A refreshed page can still hold an old price
A lineup price describes an input to that calculation. It does not automatically become an independent, current quote. The time a page was downloaded is different from the time its price was observed.
When the observation time is unknown, the age of the price remains unknown. A new page timestamp cannot resolve that uncertainty.
“Cheapest” needs a defined search
A route found among a limited set of candidates only describes that search. It does not prove that no cheaper route exists elsewhere.
Look for the covered versions, market, price snapshot, personal progress assumptions and search limits. Two route totals become comparable only when those details are compatible.
